Assisted Stretching

Experience a multitude of benefits that redefine your fitness journey with our personal 1-2-1 wellness assisted stretch sessions.

Improves Posture

Tight muscles can cause your body to move out of its intended alignment. You might slump forward or arch your back or walk in a way that is pulled by tight muscles. A stretch therapist will address areas of poor posture and can choose stretches that will fix postural issues and in turn, improve and correct your overall posture.

Helps To Reduce Muscle Stiffness

When your muscles are tight, they can cause discomfort as they are shortened and contracted. This limits your range of motion. By stretching your muscles, it returns them to their natural length and releases tension making you feel more relaxed.

Enhances Athletic Performance

A regular stretch routine can increase range of motion and flexibility. Stretching is an excellent way to boost athletic performance and strength while protecting against injuries. Strength requires flexibility. So, when muscles are more flexible, they can relax and elongate more fully. A fully lengthened muscle allows more muscle fibres available for improved muscle engagement. Improved muscle engagement leads to greater power and strength for explosive movements that positively influence athletic performance.

Increased Flexibility

1-2-1 assisted stretch can improve your overall flexibility and in turn, your body’s range of motion. When an external person stretches you, they can move your body in ways that you would be unable to do yourself as your muscles will contract to protect from over-stretching. Assisted stretching allows you to relax and as your muscles relax too, you can reach a greater range of motion through your joints and as a result reduce the risk of injury and improve physical performance.

Decreases Risk of Injury

Stretching can help increase energy levels by reducing muscle tension and fatigue, which can often leave individuals feeling drained and low on energy. By stretching, we can improve blood flow to the muscles and brain, which can help provide your body with the necessary oxygen and nutrients needed to function at optimal levels. Stretching can help stimulate the nervous system, which can also help increase energy levels.

Decreases Stress Levels

When we become stressed, we often carry it in our muscles. This increased tension within the muscle tissue can contract muscle length and produce pain. When stretching, the body releases the mood-boosting neurotransmitter, serotonin, which helps encourage your muscles to relax, and as a result, reduces stress levels. Assisted stretching also enables patients to unwind and let their stretch therapist do all the work!

Is Assisted Stretching Painful?

Assisted stretching should not be painful. It’s typically done within your comfort range to avoid injury. You may feel a gentle stretching sensation, but it should not be painful.

What to expect in an Assisted Stretching session?

During your sessions, your therapist will help guide and support you through a series of controller movements, stretches, specifically targeting muscle groups and joints. This collaborative approach allows for a deeper and more effective stretch, help to release tension, alleviate muscle tightness and will help to improve your range of motion and can be customised to address your individual needs.

How Often should I do Assisted Stretching?

The frequency of assisted stretching can vary based on individual needs and goals. Some people benefit from weekly sessions, while others may find monthly sessions sufficient. Discuss your goals with your therapist to determine the right frequency.

What should I wear for Assisted Stretching?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. Gym kit is ideal. Communicate any injuries or health concerns to your therapist and stay hydrated before and after your session.
